Cats drink a lot less water than dogs, but why? Felines are hunting animals, throughout their existence they have always lived on small animals, through the ingestion of which they got the water they needed in addition to the necessary nutrition.

This vestige of their wild days is still present in their behaviour today, which is why they are still not used to drinking water. This is why you need to make sure your four-legged friend does not dehydrate, as this can lead to various health problems, such as urinary and urinary tract problems ( we at Gosbi have developed a dry food for these cases).

Below are some tips on how to get your cat to drink more water:

FRESH WATER: Cats are very fussy when it comes to choosing what they consume. If their water is not fresh they may prefer not to drink it, so try to make sure they have fresh water each day.

WATER BOWL:  As above; the taste and smell of the bowl are also important to your cat. For this reason we recommend using glass or aluminium bowls and avoiding plastic ones.

MIX DRY FOOD WITH TINNED FOOD:  One very good solution is to mix dry food (pellets) with tinned food. This way, your cat will consume water naturally as he or she eats. We recommend you to check out our Fresko tinned cat food.

LARGE BOWLS: Cats are more likely to drink water from a large bowl. If you can provide your cat with a large bowl (like the ones dogs use), he or she may drink more water.

AUTOMATIC DISPENSERS: Have you ever seen cats playing with the stream of water from a tap? Cats are naturally curious, they love discovering and playing. Get them an automatic dispenser so they can have fun drinking water.
